Geomerics is an innovation-led company specialising in graphics software for the games industry and beyond. It is built on a combination of advanced in-house IP, a world-class research team, and strong management experience.
We are based in Cambridge and have built a team that combines many years of management and industry experience with some of the UKs leading researchers.
Our first product is Enlighten. Enlighten redefines the way lighting is handled in computer games. Instead of pre-baking the effects of global illumination into the scene, they can now be computed at run time, allowing for fully dynamic lighting that dramatically enhances quality. Enlighten gives artists total control over lighting, driving a new generation of games that rival film for their manipulation of mood and atmosphere.
Geomerics was established in 2005 with initial backing from ANGLE plc, an AIM-listed international Consulting, Management and Ventures company. After a period of consultation with developers, we started work on our real-time radiosity technology which now forms the backbone of Enlighten. This was first demo'd at Develop in 2006. By early 2007 we were official T&M developers for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and also became an Epic Integrated Partner. January 2007 also saw the final piece of the management team fall into place with the arrival of Gary Lewis as CEO. Series A funding was in place by July 2007, with Trinity Hall investing £2m. This funded a major expansion programme running up to the launch of Enlighten in February 2008.
