IT Manager

Location: Cambridge, UK
Salary: £35k to £50k plus an extensive benefits package.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, flexible

Primary Role

As part of Geomerics continued growth, we are now looking to appoint an IT manager to take ownership of all aspects of our IT infrastructure.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing IT services in a mixed Windows/Unix environment. They will be responsible for establishing an IT infrastructure that is robust and secure, and for day-to-day troubleshooting. They will also have responsibility for many of the services we run, including digital delivery, website management, intranet, CRM and database systems, and file and build servers.

This hands-on role is an excellent opportunity for the right person to expand their own skills as the company grows and meets new challenges.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  • System administration experience in a mixed Windows/Unix environment.
  • Knowledge of Windows Domains and LDAP
  • Network design and implementation
  • Hardware installation and management
  • Network security and redundancy
  • Virtualisation
  • Server administration, backup and audit
  • Managing build services
  • Website administration including knowledge of PHP and MY SQL
  • Management of software licenses
  • Scripting
  • Management of a distributed build system
  • Set-up and administration of an internal wiki/knowledge system
  • Experience of any of TeamCity, Atlassian products, Salesforce, SVN would be an advantage. 

Experience/Education

  • Degree level education in a technical subject (Maths, Physics, Computer Science) or equivalent industrial experience
  • Experience as a network architect or similar role in a technical environment.
