Senior Developer

Location: Cambridge, UK
Salary: £40k to £55k plus an extensive benefits package. We will consider higher salaries for exceptionally qualified applicants
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, flexible

Primary Role

As part of Geomerics continued growth, we are now looking to appoint a Senior Developer who can take responsibility for innovating, designing and implementing extensions to the existing Enlighten SDK, focussing in particular on integration into third party game engines.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of working with either in-house or third party game engines. Knowledge of modern shader-driven 3D graphics, particularly lighting, is highly desirable as is hands-on experience of developing content authoring pipelines for games. Experience of PS3 and XBox360 development is also valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, prototyping and development of new integration features
  • Establishing customer requirements and responding to customer feedback
  • Setting high standards for robust, maintainable and well tested code
  • Providing input into future product direction

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  • Hands-on development experience with a current generation games engine
  • Experience with game content authoring pipelines
  • Experience with current-gen console development
  • Good working knowledge of modern shader-driven 3D graphics and DirectX
  • Knowledge of lighting, particularly radiosity
  • Highly proficient in C++ development
  • Ability to identify and solve problems without guidance
  • Strong practical understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to track issues, estimate, prioritise and balance requirements under pressure

Experience/Education

  • Degree level education in a technical subject (Maths, Physics, Computer Science) or equivalent industrial experience
  • 4+ years experience as a programmer in a 3D heavy application
  • Successful delivery of at least one complete game
